For the final installment of the series, we present a story about the odyssey of immigration.

Nina Tarnay and her mom spent six weeks on a fishing boat seeking asylum after the Vietnam War. Decades later, Tarnay reflects on the struggles her family went through when they finally settled in the United States.

To visually tie together the historical moments with the present, we looped, blended, and projected watercolor and graphite texture scans into each of our scenes and subjects. This created a dream-like and etherial feel that enabled us to flow seamlessly from iconic historical moments, through raw memories and feelings, up to contemporary life, and back again.
